MSU also does the Maroon - White chant, and Hail State is sometimes used.

Um, I know absolutely nothing about "frog gigging?"
In fact, Reading your last post is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing... is this common in Texas?

It's a sport in which people hunt frogs. The tool used is called a "gig," and you pretty much stab a frog with it.
Back when we played TCU, a student was going around campus with a thumbs-up saying "Gig the hell outta those Horned Toads!"
Everything at A&M has a story behind it that t.u. usually copied, completely honestly.

Odd, but I guess that makes sense...

In fact, this moniker was started in the 30's or 40's. The horns didn't "decide" to do a hand signal until the 80's.
They only built a clock tower because they wanted one bigger than ours (and ours isn't even that big).
They have Big Bertha because they wanted a bass drum bigger than ours.
They sing "Texas Fight" as a copy of a song we had called "Farmers Fight" because we make fun of "The Eyes of Texas."
And they got a hand signal because we had one first. If you look back at history, they've been copying us, and we get the flak for it.

exactly...kind of like holding that "gig" with a grip and thumb up and then you "gig em". Probably more common for people who live near the water or swamp. Maybe more of you LA people can shed more light on the sport. May be more common in East Texas..

This is a real possibility
But really, I may not know a lesser used definition of bait.

Even I know it's Roll Tide. ESPN had a very classy commercial about it.

Is that just another A&M ripoff of big bro Texas? Instead of saying "Hook Em" they say "Gig Em" ?
Looks like you've already been set straight, but you do need to realize that texas has quite a few things that are direct ripoffs of or responses to A&M.
Also, "Farmers Fight" for another Aggie "battle cry," if you will. Usually more popular as a yell, though.
