Catching up...were the involved players ruled ineligible then reinstated for last season? Wouldn't that make last season bullet-proof?

Yes. All the Whitney involved players were suspended -- some were reinstated by the first or second game. Wesley Saunders was dismissed from the team.

Damiere Byrd is suspended for the first 4 games this year.

So, no wins will be vacated.

There are also claims that two people representing USC made impermissible contact with recruits and provided them with impermissible benefits between the spring of 2009 and February 2011

Wonder if Spurrier is regretting this quote:

“Anyone can poke around our program. We don’t have anything to hide. Poke on everything — the hours we practice and train. They can poke everything we do. And our compliance people poke, too.”
