All of them? really? I'm in the military, and I know quite a few quality officers who are both from the Academy and not stuck up about it. There is also plenty of bias from non academy officers against academy grads, it works both ways.
It really has no effect on the quality of the officer.
TLDR: there are douches on both sides, and quality officers on both sides.

It might have just been the area I was from as well?
There was a whole lot of animosity on the side of the prep students.. iono, it was like they felt that they were just so much better than the officers that got their rank after only 2 years.
