Also, recent expansions for both schools have been "initiated" by Ole Miss, if that makes any sense.
We build a jumbotron. They build a jumbotron.
We build an IPF. They build an IPF.
We build a basketball practice facility. They build a basketball practice facility.
And so forth.
Yeah, in that OM finished theirs first. It seems as State announces plans to make plans, then OM makes their plans and builds it first. I know I read on boards that we had 'talked' about building big video board for many months before I read that OM was announcing their plans. Same goes for the basketball practice facility--it seems we had been talking about one for years. OM just gets it done much more quickly than State.
As far as the IPF, State had a sparse 50 yard indoor practice facility for 20-30 years before OM built their really nice 100 yard IPF. Then we built our still relatively rather sparse 100 yard IPF. Turns out that Mullen doesn't like to use it much anyway--it's only used 4-5 times a year by the football team.
For the last several years State has had renovated and pretty nice weight rooms, training facilities, etc, but they've been in separate buildings. With our football facility to be started within months, we'll have everything state-of-the-art and under one roof (except for the IPF part) and right next to the practice fields.
It doesn't matter THAT much, though. It's a good that that OM and MSU are pushing each other.
Congrats on the $150 million campaign.

Mullen refuses to go indoor unless there's thunder and lightning. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconPimp.gif)
