No, his fame came out of the fact that he wrote an article for a ton of years that was read by the whole state. Hell, the guy was one of about 4 reporters who got an interview before the Liberty Bowl with Coach Bryant. The only other guy I can recall having that distinction is Phillip Marshalls dad...

Finebaum was actually a pretty well respected sports reporter....his radio show doesn't work for me, but it does for a whole bunch of people. And whether we like it or not, he has become one of the go to guys for the national sports media when it concerns the SEC.

He attacked both AU and UA when he was with the newspaper. During his early radio show he would attack the program that was the most screwed up at that time. He refused to do commercials on his show out of journalistic integrity. Later he started catering to his sponsors and the bama fanbase. Every now and then he goes after bama, but not for long.
