Another 1st round NBA pick

No he was a 2nd round pick. Played a few seasons in the NBA - mop up duty.

Maybe we can find another one, maybe the high school signee is going to be like that.

That's what I am saying and what many others are saying. The current recruiting strategy hasn't panned out and when Trent was hired the thing he championed was that he can recruit that types of players he couldn't at Stanford.

O'Bryant is a start but this is season 4, the start should have happened in 09. And of course O'Bryant hasn't even stepped on the floor yet.

The recruiting strategy is to build a program, not find a one-and-done quick fix to salvage one season and then he's gone the next year (see Anthony Randolph). I would gladly take one of those guys if we have supporting players around them. But the point is that the last recruiting class was ranked very well by recruiting services, and we have a top rated player coming in this year. Trent's recruiting philosophy should put a good team on the floor next year.

How can you say the start should have begun in 2009 when basically every player for the next class was already signed? He made a decision to save scholarships. It may have been a bad choice, but it's not like he had many other options when he first arrived. I certainly think next year must change, but unless you're in this area of the country already, you're not recruiting the same players and you don't have the relationships established. College basketball recruiting is so different from football that unless you have a homegrown talent or you choose to go the JUCO route, you'll have a tough time leaving the state to sign a top player.

I'm really nervous that we're pinning all our hopes on this one guy for next year, last year it was Malcolm White and looked how that turned out. His biggest feat this year was setting the land speed record for recording two fouls in a game.

AMEN brother, the list is long of kids from out of state that JB brought here that up to this point are better than this guy has brought in in four years.
Lamont Roland, Ronald Dupree, Chris Johnson, Magnum Rolle, Regis Kounja a bust but very highly touted, Tack Minor another bust but very highly touted, Lloreda a beast, Ross neltner he was mr kentucky, the freshman who transferred from Marquette another bust but was all freshman in the league, Randolph, jabari, don't tell me we can't get big time recruits here. the above were all 4-5 star players. Some worked out some didn't but coming out of high school or juco they were highly touted. Hell we got stromile and jabari while on probation, someone is not working hard enough or doesn't know wtf they are doing.
