I asked a buddy of mine that same question. He says that wood bats would put a lot of programs out of business due to having to purchase so many over the course of a season, with practice, games, etc. I never thought of that, but outside the SEC, a lot of smaller programs live on the margins.

Almost every SEC coach would tell you that the SEC Tournament is much harder than any regional they will play in.
