LOL at anyone listing Bob Pettit in this discussion. He was an unbelievable player, but he has and never will be mentioned in any discussion with the best ever. The average fan has no clue who played for, when he played, and couldn't tell you if he was black or white.

This thread begins and ends with Shaq. There are certain players that people remember through the ages (i.e. Russell, Chamberlain, Bird, Magic, Jordan, Havlicek, West, etc.) and Shaq is one of them.

And layoff Horry. He rode nobody's coat tails. He was an important part of every team he played on, and was directly involved in winning several playoff and championship games. He was never a "STAR" on any team, but he is hands down the best role player of all-time and deserves some mention for the Hall of Fame - though he probably will never get serious consideration.

obviously Shaq is the best, bitch. But if you're going to list 5 playes hoping to slide in someone from your school, make sure he isn't a 7ppg 4rpg beast like Horry while true all time greats like Pettit and Nique are left off the list.

I love how some hick from Alabama is the spokesman for the every man fan who doesnt know Pettit and remembers Horry hitting a couple of threes at the end of games in which he shot 35% from the field as a forward.
