The only way to fully explain the passion and money involved in college football, particularly in SEC, is with theological language. When one considers all that had to happen for LSU to win in 2007, nothing short of divine intervention can explain. Indeed, church attendance had not been that high in Louisiana since the days following Katrina and 9-11.
When Nick Saban left LSU, many thought it was a sign of the end times. When he showed up at Alabama a few years later, one young Alabama fan talked like it was the second coming. With Nick and a chammionship to stand on, good faith logic showed them to be the "chosen." That is why so many BAMA fans think of Auburn's championship as something of the devil, an evil force moving over the planet. And who knows?
When immature faith collides with polytheism (practice of worshipping more than one God; ie, money, sex, power, and football) weird things happen. And those weird things get expressed in even more weird language. And God must have a crick in his neck from all the fans trying to drag him over to win for their team.

A sinner I can tolerate, a hypocrite I can't.
I'm sure God is up in heaven shouting "War Damn Eagle!".
God told Cam to steal a laptop, lie about stealing the laptop, plagiarize and cheat in school, and lie about knowing of his father's p4p scheme. It was all a part of God's plan.
God told Eric Smith "Kick that fricking Duck in the head". God then told Gene "Leave Eric Smith in the game, for I sayeth unto him, kick that fricking duck in the head". It was all a part of God's plan.
God told Nick Fairly "Break that heathen fricker Aaron Murray's ribs!" "Blow out that heathen's knees! Body slam him!". It was all part of God's plan.
God is long-time Auburn fan, who did not want James Brooks to learn how to read. It was all a part of God's plan.
God told Gene Chizik "Hey you frickin' 5-19 loser, go to my favorite team Auburn and I'll turn you into a winner". All a part of God's plan.
Anybody who can't see through this bullshite ploy is so stupid they deserve to go to Auburn. I have nothing against true believers spreading their faith, but the hottest part of hell is reserved for hypocrites who attempt to profit off of their false faith.

I really have no issues with the Barn now that Cam and Fairley are gone.

It is strange how many people will say they believe in GOD but then will attack someone who talks about how GOD works in their life... Tim Tebow is just one example that comes to mind. Some had rather have their football coach screaming G@@@D@@ on the sidelines(that shows how tough he is)then to have him thank GOD for the blessing in his life.

I might not agree with it, but people can worship however they please. I don't like religion being shoved in my face and down my throat, but it is obviously something that has brought our players some comfort in their life and I'm all for people doing whatever they have too to make it through life.

I disagree. It helps, sure, but it's avoidable. Furthermore, calling Death Valley, The Grove, Toomer's Corner, etc. "sacred ground" or calling Archie Manning a "messiah" or anything like that, while a bit over the top, is hardly religious in nature. It's just a way of demonstrating the importance of something secular to someone in nonsecular language.
That's not what Chizik is doing.

Just because something is highly unlikely doesn't mean that it's impossible to the point that, for it to happen, divine miracles are necessary. LSU went 10-2 and won the SEC Title, that got them a BCS Title Game berth, which they won... I don't see how any god is necessary in explaining that.

Because that's how rivalries work. For you to be "good," your enemy must naturally be "bad." Therefore, such thought processes are invoked.
I'm still trying to figure out what you're doing with this post, and I don't think you're on the wrong track, but I do think that stuff is simpler than you want it to be.

What does God have to do with Tim Tebow's success?
"Thanks, God, for making me huge!" "Thanks God for the touchdown!" Really, do people think that this is what God sits around and does? Are these the types of prayers he should be answering?
Tim Tebow is the product of good genetics, hard work, and great coaching. His life is a blessing, sure, but him having the life he has is completely random, just as is that of the homeless man sitting outside of my office right now.

Totally. And that's fine, in a vacuum. But most people don't think that way. I guarandamntee you that there are literally people who think that God answered the "PLZ WE WUNT BCS CRYSTAL BALL KTHX" prayers for Auburn fans this year, as if the most powerful being in the universe gives a shite about who wins or loses SEC football.

Please show your ignorance and make an argument.
Many of you are showing you have no understanding of how God would have a hand in sports and because of that, I don't blame you for getting upset with this. God does not care about the game but he cares about the players and those players using the talents he gave them to the best of their ability to glorify his name. Tebow was a tremendous athlete and each game, he gave all glory to God for his ability and plays he made to God. Obviously he doesn't care about the score but he will bless those that obey his commands. I think thats the confusion, many think when they hear God and sports, they think people are saying that God picks winners.
As for Auburn, if they back what they preach, then I think what they are portraying is an incredible thing. But with situations like Cam and his dad and coaches like Trooper on staff, its easy to get confused on their motives.

I'm always seeing athletes praise God after a touchdown or a win or a great play. I would like to see an athlete blame God for once... after a fumble or a loss. Just basically say, "We would have won, but God did this to us." I'm tired of the winners always saying, "I want to thank God for this win."

In the words of the late great Lewis Grizzard, "College football in the South is not a religion, it's much more important than that."
