Have more that one good year.

One good year, no matter how great it is, doesn't make one a great coach.

Would anyone call Larry Coker a great coach?

The guy is 8-0 in bowl games he has coached. He has coached on 3 of the last 5 BCS conference teams to go undefeated and he is currently turning Auburn into a powerhouse while everybody is thumbing their nose at him.

All three of these "facts" are just relative truths. He was only the head coach in two of those bowl wins. He was only the head coach in one of those 3 championships.

As for turning Auburn into a powerhouse, what exactly constitutes a powerhouse in your mind?

This comes with time. It can't be rushed. As it stands right now, he's a good coach. Greatness comes as a product of more years than he's put in so far.

HE needs to win over his fanbase.

Bama fans love Nick Saban but there are AU fans that still doubt Coach Chizik

Actually win a game with coaching instead of just having hired the best player in college football history for a season as a hired gun.

Auburn will be 8-4 this year at best.

Haven't read the entire thread, but if he can win more that 8 games next year I think he will be getting there.

He just hasn't been coach long enough to be considered "Great"

One thing that does not help him was fans of Auburn booing him or Jay Jacobs after the hire was announced.
