LSU 2006 lost to the eventual national champions, and the only team to beat the eventual national champions.
Alabama 2010 lost to a mediocre LSU team, a mediocre South Carolina team, and a very good Auburn team.
LSU 2006 > Bama 2010.

Auburn was the best team in the country in 2006. They beat LSU and the National Champions.

2006 was the most talented LSU team I've ever seen, but I don't care who you are. If you play all 4 road games against top 10 opponents, you're not going to the NC.
I don't think either team had a disappointing year to be honest.
