Probably had to do with the fact that Texas politics played the part of who went to join the big 8 and who was left to form/join Con-USA/MWC.

Texas politics was not going to let the 4 that went split apart, so that would have left Arkansas with TCU as the Big8 wasn't going to not take Texas...

It is a shame because I have a lot of respect for your football program. Just cannot (at nearly the age of FIFY) ever see Arky as anything but a SWC team. However, I do recognize that younger fans will eventually see them as our rival (just like I see Tulane and Ole Miss that way).
