Everyone just take a deep breath and relax: RE- Mullen/Petrino to UF

I know I'm not supposed to post for another few days but in the last 24 hours this board has been totally unreadable.

#1- People who are saying Mullen or Petrino would drop everything to go to Florida are delusional. This isn't NCAA 11, coaches don't up and move just because a school with a higher prestige rating offers them a job. A LOT more goes into that. These are human beings with families and personal goals which may or may not line up with what "conventional wisdom" says. As great a job as Florida is, coming in and taking over for Urban Meyer is NOT an easy task. The man won 2 National Titles in 6 years, the expectations there are, IMO, too high for any program to justify, especially one in the SEC. Also, at least with respect to Petrino, he would have to totally change the offense which would lead to some growing pains due to the type of player Meyer has recruited. Ask Rich Rodriguez how much patience a fan base has for that. There are legitimate FOOTBALL reasons to not take that job, not to mention non football reasons. Neither of those guys are close to a slam dunk, although I would concede that Mullen is closer.

#2- MSU/Arky fans who are saying there's no chance their coach leaves are equally as delusional. I know neither of you want to hear this, but both of your programs have handicaps that make it tougher to compete at the highest levels than at a place like Florida. If either of those guys believe that they can do things at Florida that they can't do at State or Arky, then it's going to be very tough to keep them there. I don't care how much they like living in the area. These people DO NOT share your passion for the institution and will absolutely jump ship if they believe it's in the best interests of their career.

#3- These aren't the only coaches out there Florida will be looking at. Do you really think Jeremy Foley's list only has two names on it? These processes take time and rarely go the way everyone thinks. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Florida ended up hiring someone no one is talking about right now. Just look to history, sometimes the first few names you hear in the media end up being the ones, but just as often if not moreso it ends up being someone else entirely.
