name a QB Petrino has had success with that went on to have a good NFL career?

You're right and I don't know what came over me. Of course a massage board football expert knows much more than people who actually make a living coaching.

You should apply for a job as a talent scout with the NFL before someone makes a grave error and takes the underdeveloped Ryan Mallet in the 1st round. After all, he hasn't developed one bit under Petrino. Keep up the insightful posts.

you still haven't proven me wrong. Show me what QB has had a successful NFL career than Petrino has been involved with in college.

underdeveloped is right.

I didn't say mallett hadn't made huge strides thanks to Petrino but again the question you have no answered still remains.

can you not stay on topic dumb pig.

And he doesn't have Petrino's proven NFL success.

You mean the success he had in Atlanta? I wouldn't go yelling that from the rooftops. The minute he began to fail, he bolted. He didn't even finish the season. He is good at teaching QBs in college the scheme, but does not seem to be able to teach them what they need to know to operate at the next level much like Spurrier. And I'm certainly not saying LSU does, but Flynn is still suiting up for an NFL team ala Jimbo Fisher. Mallet will go in the first round and may succeed in part because of what he's learned prior to coming to Arkansas combined with some of what he learned at Arkansas along with intangibles that simply cannot be coached.

Just remember, the pros are not just looking for big numbers. If that were the case, the NFL would be flooded with QBs from Texas Tech and Hawaii over the years.

Congrats on the win, though.

What does Mallett, who hasnt played an NFL game, have to do with Arkansas being the best school for QBs and WRs?

Mallett, thats the argument here?

I'm agreeing with you. What the hell is your problem? Petrino is way overrated at developing QBs and any message board expert can see that. I don’t know what took me so long to see it. His reputation by NFL people is unfounded and much more credit should be given to message board experts, like you, who have picked up on this.

You are the man and as I stated earlier, you should apply as a talent scout evaluator and get paid instead of wasting your time one message boards. Your ability is uncanny. Go for it!

Brian Brohm sure couldn't show you.

He got his arse beat out by Matt Flynn for the backup QB spot at GB.

And yet another football expert that could be making millions in the coaching profession yet they chose to grace us with their wisdom on message boards........for free! Hell, I'm really depressed now knowing that Petrino can't develop QBs. It has to be true because all these message board experts say it’s true. Thanks for straighten us all out, including those NFL dolts.

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino has a strong reputation for developing quarterbacks

The above quote and link is from nfldraftbible.com. It was probably written by some know-nothing hack. Let me know when your opinions and keen perceptions will appear on such a sight so I can reference it.

As an assistant coach, he helped guide Idaho's John Friesz and Doug Nussmeier; Arizona State's Jake Plummer; Louisville's Chris Redman; and Auburn's Jason Campbell to stints in the NFL. As the Cardinals' head coach, he primed Stefan LeFors and Brian Brohm for the NFL.

He helped GET those guys to the NFL. Once they get there, it's up to them. And more times than not, a QB's success is largely dictated by his supporting cast.

Perhaps the better question in regards to Petrino's ability to develop QB's is this:

Which of his college QB's failed to get a shot in the pros? Which one didn't even come close? I can't think of any.

John Friesz

not a good nfl player. Started every game for a team just once. Petrino arrived at idaho in '89. Friesz graduated that year. Only one year under Petrino.

Doug Nussmeier

only played 8 games in the NFL.

Petrino was only there for his freshman yr.

Louisville's Chris Redman

bust as a 3rd rounder.

Auburn's Jason Campbell

was only at Auburn for a year. Doesn't really prove that he helped Campbell too much.

neither did well in the nfl.

every other qb than you listed most likely.
