Some of the linked council meetings show that the church was in dissaray over 50% of the churche's net worth. Your church doesn't get that way when you have a congregation with money. A church doesn't reach that point and then all of a sudden the congregation forks up that kind of money. It had to come from outside donations, loans, or movement from one of Newton's other churches which would be fine.


ETA: or the money came from somewhere people don't want to talk about.
