Do you actually think he'll even be considered for the Heisman with this investigation looming after the Reggie Bush incident?

No way, No how, the media will jump on this like stink on shat!

There is no way anyone knows anything condemning Auburn without some inside sources as of now. There are no accusations being brought against us and no evidence to condemn us. It's all about Kenny Rogers.

There's no way you would believe this if Cam was at Alabama instead of Auburn

An agent claiming to represent the player demanding money before signing day - then goes to a school

Let's play pretend for a second here. Assume that Cam is not dirty and he/his father were not behind the money demands. After the agent made the rounds demanding money shouldn't/wouldn't you stop recruiting him? After all, no one knew he was going to be a Heisman caliber player - what would make him worth that risk?

When asked if he'd ever play in the SEC again, Cam Newton was quoted as saying: "Yea I'd play just about anywhere in the SEC, except Auburn. I wouldn't play there even if they paid me."

Unless more facts come out all this looks like right now is a money hungry pseudo agent trying to strong arm a school into paying for a player they didn't think they needed to pay for. He doesn't have the clout to bring that up at any other SEC school other than his alma mater.

Cam has done a good bit of charity work during his time at Auburn. I'm getting weary of reading this crap, he's a good kid.

An he also stole a laptop and his dirty dad are in the middle of this strange and ugly NCAA investigation.

Do you honestly believe Cam to be some innocent bystander in all of this?

I think the whole situation is a shite sandwich, and it all revolves around him - he's the player- he has the value.

We'll see when the facts come out, but my personal opinion (which obviously doesn't mean more than anyone else's) is that they are dirty. Is that so ridiculous?

As I've said before, there are five principal stages here

1. Is Kenny Rogers associated with the Newton family financially?

2. Did Kenny Rogers solicit money from MSU for Cam Newton to play football?

3. Did the Newton family know this event occurred, if it did?

4. Was Auburn University involved?

5. Was their a financial transaction between Auburn University and a third party for the services of Cameron Newton?

Those questions have to be answered in order for Auburn be condemned.

He bought a stolen laptop. Quite a difference. Also, unless you never made a mistake of similar merit in college, you shouldn't be casting the first stone.

Until proven otherwise, why not?

It's kind of ridiculous to throw him under the bus when nothing has been proven...

To me - you only have to get to #2 to be very concerned if you are Auburn - there's no rational reason to believe they would have only solicited money from MSU. Esp because he was supposedly more interested originally in MSU than Auburn.

There appears to be a real relationship between Cam's father and KR. There appears to be a real relationship (shared bank account) between KR and another agent/runner.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. He bought a laptop he didn't know was stolen, but as soon as cops came in his dorm he threw it out the window right?

You can't tell me that his dad, who possibly took money from a college, was the one saying he needed to go there and he listened to his dad without making up his own mind.

Maybe in your mind, but not the NCAA's. It depends on how Auburn handles it. Obviously, the NCAA has already been looking into it. If they feel Auburn is stonewalling or not being 100% truthful, then they bring out the big guns. The Newton stuff doesn't have to be proven, the NCAA only has to believe it's true and they'll find evidence or evidence of something else to nail Auburn.

The last thing Auburn needs to see is a PLOI. If that comes, you're screwed no matter what you do.

It seems that Auburn officials are pretty confident in the case. The key words "Unfortunately" is important when said "Unfortunately, we can not speak on that matter" makes me feel better. To me, it says that they wish they could say why they aren't in trouble, which the NCAA won't let them do at this point.
Cam Newton resists temptation for money could be a nice segment added to his Heisman story. I can't wait until all you haters bite your tongue.

I'm not casting stones. He's not so "Tebow" like you are making him out to be. For someone that had to defend Masoli on this board, I'm not going to condemn someone for sins of the past, but I'll admit Masoli and Cam are no angels.

Cam's recruitment is sketchy (his Dad picked AU for him... WTF?). The stories have been out there from MSU fans for months and months about the bidding, church, etc. Smoke = fire.

I'm not really throwing him under the bus b/c I'm not saying he's guilty for the exact charges he's being accused of. I just think he and his dad are dirty. Just a personal opinion.

If none of those questions are answered, what are we accused of again?

Those questions have to be answered, and the NCAA will look to answer them.

Given Newton's previous record, I seriously doubt this story helps him in any way.

Auburn doesn't have to be accused or guilty to be condemned.

Rouge Agents have replaced rouge boosters as the target for NCAA investigations and Auburn is now in the middle of it. It depends on how Auburn handles the situation on how the NCAA proceeds.
