...BUT, and I know you understand, Mallett did not have the added advantage of Bama's defense and Bama's running game, which is a variable no one can account for.

His point was that they were "way better" and yet they clearly were not. I'm not here to argue hypothetically.

Now we are talking hypothetically. There is no way to know how Mallett would have done as Bama's QB and vice-versa for McElroy at Arkansas.

Actually, I'm arguing that any realistic comparison between Mallett and Mcelroy is fruitless.

However, speaking as someone who believes they have watched enough football to identify a good quarterback, you would not trade Mcelroy for Mallett if, hypothetically, you could trade quarterbacks? I would trade Patrick Peterson and Jordan Jefferson for Mallett and Ramon Broadway. If I were a Bama fan, I would trade Mcerloy and Ingram for Mallett, and I believe that I would have improved my team.

I don't understand Alabama fans, and I never have, and arguments like this one are the very reason why I don't understand Alabama fans and have grown to hate the U of Alabama. Many are blind devotees who are quick to defend their university's "pride", which is apparently wrapped up in their football team and its players. It's sad, actually, that many within a fan base will canonize a quarterback who's so outstandingly average, yet two years ago, JPW played pretty good football and they almost excommunicated him.
