Per Coach Saban,
quote:
the past two Crimson Tide quarterbacks to win a national title -- Jay Barker (1992) and McElroy (2009) -- were similar in that neither was flashy or took risks. Both managed the offense rather than starring in it.

Coach Saban is exactly right. However, if a team were composed of players all with the ability of Greg Mcelroy at their respective positions, that team would be competitive in the Sun Belt at best.
My point is this: STOP CREATING GREG MCELROY INTO SOMETHING HE IS NOT.
You had a great team last year. Just because you had a great team last year does not mean that every player who played meaningful minutes on that team is a great player. Greg Mcelroy sucks. Deal with it. Few teams are perfect. Your team was not perfect. Save me the, "we were undefeated". That does not mean your team was perfect. It only means that you had a perfect record.
