Well I don't know what my point is, other than Turducken's asshattery, but regarding Ole Miss' academics, I'd say it all depends on what you're going into.

For example: a mathematics, art, history, or engineering degree from Ole Miss is about as generic as they come. But our pharmacy and international studies programs are perhaps the best in the conference while our accountancy, business, journalism, and English programs are certainly top-half in the conference.

Ole Miss doesn't have the size or endowment of the Floridas and Vanderbilts of the world, so it cannot afford to be great at everything. Chancellor Khayat, however, did a great job of establishing a few, select diciplines in which Ole Miss would excel as a way of setting itself apart from other schools in the area.

It's sorta like what LSU has done with environmental science or State with animal husbandry or Tennessee with criminal forensics. Basically, the schools have found what they're good at and stuck with them.
