Mallett and Snead Arkansas Ole Miss

I still don't have a clue why fans in the SEC compare the two. They imo are completely different QB's. Mallett has an NFL arm. He also has a much better surrounding cast. I also don't understand how people are saying we are this years Ole Miss. In many of the pre season rankings I have seen anywhere from 15 to being unranked. Ole Miss was in the top 5 of most pre season rankings last year. Mallett is in an offense they can set him up for success. Snead was in a run dominated offense and when he did pass it was that 10 yd stop route. That is the pass a Houston Nutt offense throws about 90% of the time. I watched it for a long time.

It makes no since...but it is what it is

OK....
Not that it matters at all now but we weren't a consensus top 5 team. Consensus top 15? yea for sure and we got eaten alive by the hype machine. Our OL didn't gel early enough, JS got straight up exposed for the jittery HS QB he was, and he cost us 2 games (Aub and MSU).
In 2008 when Snead went off down the stretch, it was against cole slaw defenses. Who did RM tear up last year? Just stating the facts and helping you realize why the media(who doesn't know dick about dick) is comparing the two QBs.

I think its mainly the Arkie/Ole Miss fans.

It's simply a figure of speech describing a team that is ranked high, but could easily fall. Same thing as 08 Georgia, 03 Auburn, etc. etc. Ole Miss just happens to be the most recent. It's not like people are comparing 2009 Arky and 2008 Ole Miss position by position.

That's all well and good but the one thing that separates the two is their mentors at the QB position. Nutt isn't a QB guy and he never has been. Petrino is known for having/developing good QB's. I guess I just find it unlikely that Mallett would regress from 2009. Hell, look how much Casey Dick improved under Petrino and he didn't have near the OL or skill position players Mallett will have at his dispense. Just my $0.02...

This is so rife with inaccuracy.

Its easier to just let them think what they want and laugh when they fall on their face

DUDE Mallet tore it UP against Eastern Michigan , Troy and Texas A&M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, almost lost to East Carolina.
But hey, Bobby P has a knack for beating mediocre opponents.

only thing that is "inaccurate" is the rankings...everything else is mostly spot on

Other than they both transferred from traditional power programs to programs that had new Head Coaches (although Snead transferred to OM while O was still there), and in their first years did enough to where they became SEC Champion contenders the next season, I don't see a reason why they're compared.

Ragone? Leflors? Brohm? Solid college qbs yes. But IMO all these guys did was tear up a weak-arse cusa or big east schedule. I am so sick of people acting like Petrino is the Yoda of QB coaches.

mallett has a qb guru for a HC. snead and mallett are in two totally different situations. i can see arky playing their way into ATL as long as bama has trouble replacing their D
