The post about AP championships? If that is the only criteria used then sure, but considering other variables Texas could be the most successful.

If it's college football, you'll have a difficult time convincing me it's anyone other than the state of Alabama... when factoring in high school, college, and NFL it's Texas... hands down.

Alabama ranks somewhere around 25th nationally in population and supports two of the top 15 winningest programs in college football history (Alabama 6th & Auburn 13th). On any given Saturday, there could be as many as 178,000 people watching college football in the state of Alabama (that number will go up as Bryant Denny expands in 2010).
