This is all you need to know:
In five years at LSU, Nick Saban had 2 SEC titles, a national title, and won 75% of his games.
Les Miles, in five years, has 1 SEC title, 1 National title, and has won 77% of his games. So he's won 2% more games, but one less SEC title.
Consider further that Saban took over an LSU program that had 8 losing seasons in the previous 11 years, while Miles took over a program that had 2 SEC titles and a national title in the previous 5 years.

No brainer really. It's clear liquid rabbit just doesn't want to admit the obvious.

Les needs to upgrade his Hat, I don't know what's your take.??

I don't see you in that thread.

what was your intention in bringing this to the SEC rant?

I'm quoting myself here but I don't care. You also have to remember that he took over an Alabama program that had 3 losing years in the previous 6, and won an SEC and national title, as well as won 80% of his games. In total, in 8 years in the SEC, Saban has won 78.6% of his games, 3 SEC titles and 2 NAtional titles. He has done this after taking over TWO teams with NUMEROUS losing seasons in the years preceding his arrival. Does anyone really think Les Miles's numbers with correspond with Saban's after three more years at LSU?

It isn't necessary to go back 11 years unless you're just aiming to make Saban look better. Dinardo, his immediate predecessor, had more of an impact than anything before him. In his five year tenure at LSU, he had three winning seasons, including two SEC West titles. And it's not like Dinardo left a bare cupboard, there were very good players on Saban's early teams.
This is no bash on Saban whatsoever, I liked him when he was at LSU and I hold nothing against him, and have no reason to. He's a great coach that made the best decisions for himself. But there's no reason to try and inflate what he did in an effort to criticize Miles.

Really? Thats why Dinardo won so much his last 2 years he was there. Let's put it like this: In the two years before Saban got to LSU LSU had won 5 TOTAL ball games, and had NEVER been to Atlanta (don't give me that two western titles crap- that shite's for Ole Miss). Oh but Dinardo recruited some great players! (yeah and he recruited some shitty ones as well and didn't develope too many either). Do you think, after three more years, Les Miles's accomplishemnts will look anything like what Saban has done, especially given the fact that Saban took over two Losing programs (yes, LSU was a LOSING program when he got there)

Miles is on the Hot Seat while Saban is competing for his next SEC and NC title, I think that pretty much sums it up.

I'm not getting involved in a Miles vs. Saban debate, I'm only referring to your efforts to include losing seasons in the early 90's when talking about Saban taking over at LSU.

You don't think the fact that kids growing up watching LSU play losing ball, as well as expectations of the ballplayers who signed, creating a culture of losing for YEARS had any effect?

Two losing seasons before he got there, but they also played in the SEC championship for two years prior to that.
You need to understand that I'm not bashing Saban. I'm just saying that he's a very good coach and his accomplishments speak for him, they don't need to be fluffed up.

No. They did not. The SECCG matchups have been as follows:
92: Alabama Florida
93: Alabam Florida
94: Alabama Florida
95: Arkansas Florida
96: Alabama Florida
97: Auburn Tennessee
98: Mississippi State Tennessee
99: Alabama Florida
00: Auburn florida
01: LSU Tennessee
Notice Anything? Thats right! LSU DID NOT play in Atlanta until Saban arrived! Don't rewrite history.

That's what I get for relying on wikipedia

I love wikipedia when I'm trying to figure out who played in what movie- other than that its useless. BTW, the blue in Dinardo's boxes on wikipedia just means they 'shared' a division title, the same way David Cutcliffe 'shared' one in 2003 and the same way Tuberville 'shared' one 2001, 2002, and 2005 (all years when he did not see Atlanta)

Yeah that's what threw me off. Thanks for knocking out the base of my argument.
Shared titles are so stupid and pointless, unless you're in Atlanta, you shouldn't be able to claim any share of the West or East.

I agree. Shared titles are for Ole Miss fans to crow about.
