I have seen the threads asking if ya'll are overrated, can ya'll win the west etc. I have sen alot of different predictions on ya'll from other people and your own fans. I'm asking each Arky poster here what are your expections in terms of record and bowl game. I'm curious about 3 scenarios:

1)What are your realistic expectations?
2)What are your expectations in a worst case scenario?
3)What are expectations in a best case scenario (I'm also curious, with the hatred for Nutt, how would your feelings for the season change if you otherwise achieved your goals but lost to Ole Miss- for example, what if you went 10-3 but one of your 3 losses was Ole Miss?)

I think we'll head into a bowl looking for a 10th win. If all the stars align, we'll be looking for an 11th.

Anything less than 9 total wins would be shameful.

I also expect us to be anywhere from 2nd to 3rd in the West.

Win the West...I don't see us going undefeated but I could see us losing to an East team or maybe 2 and still win our side...if we beat Bama

I don't hate Nutt...However, if we lose to OM I will not be happy. Although they return some decent defensive help it looks like the O will be rebuilding somewhat

1) 10-3 and a Cotton Bowl win.
2) Worst case would be 0-12.
3) Best case would be 13-0. And I am over Nutt. Do I want us to destroy them and watch him bite his nails? Of course, but 10-3 will make me happy for the season overall. I expect 2nd or 3rd in the West at least with what we return.

Realistic according to who? It's impossible for me not to give us more benefit of the doubt than other fans would. So I'll say that I see us being 10-2 (regular season) with losses to 2 of the following 3: Bama, Georgia, LSU.

Like woopig said, anything less than 9 wins for the season would be a huge disappointment. I think 10 wins (including bowl) should be the bare minimum with the amount of experience coming back, the schedule, and question marks surrounding other teams on the schedule.

With a little luck, I could see 11-1 as I strut my stuff in my newest pair of rose-colored Ray Bans. Bama is the only game that I truly feel would be a massive upset. Every other game on the schedule is one that we should have a fighting chance in.

I would be pissed if we lost to a team whose own fans only expect 6 wins out of. Regardless of coach, that would be a massive disappointment. But if Ole Miss was one of only 1 or 2 losses it wouldn't sting that bad. If OM was our 3rd loss, I'd be pretty furious because I think we have superior talent at this point.

I probably phrased that badly. I was trying to differentiate what each fan THOUGHT they would do vs. what each fan HOPED they would do, which is why I then asked for a best and worst case scenario (you answered like I wanted, thanks for seeing through the sloppy phrasing!)

1)What are your realistic expectations?
Based on our schedule, I see us realistically going 8-4 or 9-3 (Losses: Bama, LSU, then 1 or two from Georgia/Auburn/Ole Miss)
2)What are your expectations in a worst case scenario? Worst Case = 7-5 (i think Mallett would have to be injured for this)
3)What are expectations in a best case scenario (I'm also curious, with the hatred for Nutt, how would your feelings for the season change if you otherwise achieved your goals but lost to Ole Miss- for example, what if you went 10-3 but one of your 3 losses was Ole Miss?)
Personally, i dont care about Nutt. We could lose to him every year so long as we went to the SEC CG. So that's that.

Best Case Scenario, I see us at 10-2 or 11-1 (Losses to Bama and one of LSU/Auburn/Georgia)

Like most above have said. I expect around #2 in the SEC West and to be in contention for the SEC CG

Well, there's been alot of crappy threads that lately and even alot of the decent ones seem to devolve into flamng (especially when Arkansas football expectaions were brought into the thread). I just wanted to actually talk a little football and see what Arkansas fans were actually thinking when they weren't responding to flames.

Most Arkansas fans realize we will not win a NC this year. We just realize this is our best team since 2006 and luckily that year we went to the SEC CG, so anything is possible.

Also, we dont like being called the 2010 version of Ole Miss because we are not ranked in the Top 5-6 like Ole Miss was last year with the press claiming them as SEC favorites.

No one is really talking about us doing shite. Every now and then someone will pick us as a dark horse, but no one is outright claiming us as a favorite to win the SEC like Ole Miss was last year.

QB play is such a HUGE portion of a team's success. I don't think we'll fall into the OM trap because our QB will improve (Petrino's historical success with QB's being the indicator), whereas theirs took a step back.

Realistic.. 11-2 with a win in the capital one bowl

Worst Case.. 9-3 with losses to Bama, LSU, Auburn

Best Case.. 12-2 with a SEC Championship

Right now I'd say 9-3 with the D making no improvement from last year.

In a best case scenario, I think could go 11-1 but that would mean at least a middle of the pack SEC defense (which is usually top 25 nationally) and a few breaks

1995 preseason - Auburn #6, Alabama #10, Arkansas ???
1998 preseason - LSU #9, Auburn #25, Arkansas ???
2002 preseason - LSU #14, Arkansas ???
2006 preseason - Auburn #4, LSU #8, Arkansas ???

Even if not for the moderate hype I might be expecting to win the west just going off on how things seem to shake out in improbable fashion for the hogs to finish at the top of the west every 4th year or so. That probably doesn't qualify as a realistic expectation, which would probably be 9-3.

The reason you're going to see so many hog fans (less so on here than elsewhere) with what most would consider irrational expectations this year in particular is that even before Petrino ever coached a game, 2010 had already been declared "the year", so the hype within the fanbase for the coming season has been two years in the making and still has five months to go.

I think we'll end up 9-3 for the regular season. Worst case being 8-4. Best case scenario is a SECW title and a BCS bowl.

Arkansas WILL have a good season. It might not be the dream season that some fans are hoping for, but it very well could be. I think we'll have a much better idea after Week 4.
