Am I the only person who realizes that Pearl is overrated?

Pearl is a great talk-show guest and a pretty good coach. For some reason, when a guy is a great talk show guest (call me Les Miles), some foolishly believe that the guy is a great coach, too.

Pearl is a great coach...every January. March is always different.

Yep. An SEC title about once a decade and never past the sweet 16...just like Pearl.

We consistetly win 25-30 games, are ranked in the top 10-15, and get a 2-5 seed in the tournament under Pearl. Yes he still has to get past the Sweet 16, but he will, very possibly this year.

Are you retarded? Tennessee has been the most consistent SEC team of late. UT has gone from a middle of the pack at best bball school in the conference to top 2 or 3 every year

I would like to point out that this is a baited comment.

Yes, you agree with him.....NO, and you are saying that you don't realize it.....meaning that he is correct and you just don't see it yet.

Classic shite-arse politics.

It's currently no more relevant than it was under Jerry Green (and the SEC was tougher back then).

He's made Tennessee into a good team year in and year out. That's an accomplishment. Sure he's not going to win a championship but it's not like they're expecting one (yet) anyway.

Yeah though, he's a pretty good coach who can recruit.

Probably.

I would say he's mildly overrated, but I think the media love shower has toned down a lot since those back to back sweet 16s. He's definitely an above average coach. But he's also a regular season coach, not a tourney coach. I'll take that back if he can prove me wrong and advance past the sweet 16 with a 1 or 2 seed.

Perhaps you should have given an analysis of how well rated you think Pearl is to go along with you saying that he's overrated. It's strange how arguments about whether somebody is overrated or not can go on forever without first establishing what the person's general reputation is. People claiming that you are wrong just because they think Pearl is a good coach are funny.

Doc, I get the feel that most think that Pearl is a top 10 coach. I think he MAY be a top 25'er.

He is coaching Tennessee in the SEC's weakest era, and he hasn't done anything that Jerry Green couldn't do when the conf was much stronger.

But he's definitely a top-notch interview.
