This is why I hate how they rank players, since in the end it's always a crapshoot how well they'll do or not. I mean, take Barkley at USC for example.

For being a 5 star, the most prospected QB in the nation and expected somehow to take USC to the Rose Bowl and ultimately fail miserably

Barkley's going to be a great QB in due time. It was insanity for people to think USC will not miss a beat this year. They lost nine starters from last year's defense and were starting a true freshman at QB. '07 Florida had the same problems with a a lot of young players starting on defense. Even an out of the world season from Tebow couldn't prevent them from losing four games that year.
