I dunno some of the ones earlier than that are sketchy.

They may be sketchy according to opposing fans but we were legitimately awarded the NC by the major organizations for that time. The AP wasn't established before 1936 but football was still played and we were the dominant team back then, winning the Rose Bowl 4 times, which is considered the "granddaddy of em all."

Would we still have those NCs if the BCS was around back then? There's noway of knowing that but that was the system in place back then and everyone has to deal with that just like we have to deal with stupid voters and the BCS now.

Eh, not so much. The word "retroactive" comes to mind.

And if Auburn decided to claim titles like that, we'd have a few back then as well. However, we opted not to because it's pretty damn tacky IMO.

There WERE no 'major organizations for that time'. That's because the entire concept of a "NATIONAL CHAMPION" in college football didn't exist.

The Rose Bowl was a football exhibition game, put on as part of the Tournament of Roses celebration. The game was just a minor attraction to the parade in those days. Hell, the damn thing didn't even sell out for the first time until 1947.
