wavehog, if memory serves me correctly Arkansas tried to go after a big name coach, several as a matter of fact, and they all turned it down except Dana Altman.

It's not as good of a job as it once was. Then again college basketball in general is not as good as it use to be so does it all matter? It's getting to a point you should just use these games as a social event and who cares about winning or losing

i said in my post that Arkansas may not be able to get a big name but should get someone with a solid resume instead of an 'up and comer'. Altman actually does have a solid resume; I was okay with the hire at the time.

the rest of your post is garbage. the job isn't as good as it once was because we've had a decade of bad coaching over bad teams. Arkansas is still mentioned in the same breath as UK as the only two programs in the SEC that really matter to basketball; and just last year, you could heard ESPN analysts saying during the UT and OU games that a strong Arkansas is good for the NCAA, not just the SEC.

who cares about winning? come on. fans obviously care. the state cares. ESPN analysts seem to think the entirety of the NCAA has reason to care. the university cares, and needs to show it by getting a good coach. this is a business as well as a social event.
