No, i was thinking you run on first and/or 2nd trying to create a short yardage situation for 3rd since you were doing good on the ground. That will give you more options than 2 incomplete passes so you're 3rd and long and memphis expecting what's coming. It also helps with time of possesion.

Either way, my point is that just because JS was having a bad half (really, only a bad 2nd qtr) doesn't mean that you panic and change your gameplan.

No he was having a bad game period till it was out of hand for Memphis. Sometimes you do have to change your gameplan. It's called adjustments.

Jevan didnt' come around until it was garbage time. One example i can think of was the TD pass to dexter. They were in man expecting you to run out the clock.

My thoughts are that it was the first game of the year. I know thats not really an excuse, but we obviously played poorly. I dont expect us to play like that again this year, but if we do (especially against an SEC team) we'll find ourselves in a tight spot. Snead had a rough start and hopefully he wont play that poorly again. He was forcing to many passes the first 3 quarters. Although we still missed tons of tackles, I think our D will still be good this year. We had bright spots but we also had dark spots. I dont accept having the flu as being an excuse because when youre on the field your expected to perform. Even though it was a kind of tight game until the last 10 minutes or so, I still think we'll have a good season. Hopefully when we open our offense up more we'll get back on track. Props to Memphis though they did a good job of stopping our offense and getting the yards they did on offense. Still I expect us to have a good season (and not just by Ole Miss standards). I still think we'll compete in the West although after watching Bama it'll be tough. Thats just my take on it though, I could be totally wrong though. go SEC!

Disagree. We ran OUR gameplan and weren't worried about what Memphis was doing. Our coaches stuck with our QB through his shaky play and that shows dedication to him and to the plan. It shows our players that the coaches have faith in them to handle the adversity. Not to mention, Nutt didn't want to do anything different and end up showing his hand to the rest of the country.

Wrong. Adjustments are moving from zone to man. Or asking the RB to stay more shallow on the wide side screens. Or asking the QB to only use 2 check downs instead of 3 so that the ball comes out quicker when pressured. Changing the plan of attack from balanced (whether it's 1st, 2nd or 3rd to keep them guessing) to heavy run is altering your entire game. It demonstrates a lack of confidence in your QB which is seen by everyone on the team. It would have been the wrong thing to do.

He was average for qtr 1. Horrible for qtr 2. Good for qtr 3. Very good for qtr 4.
