Baton Rouge,LA Rant Grade A

My favorite for Mexican food although Serrano's is always fun after the game if you can get a table. Also the Spanish Moon is one of my favorite bars. It's chilled out, usually has good music, and has bars upstairs and down.

Sammys is money. I used to eat there a lot when I lived in BR. Chimes is consistently good and awesome beer selection.

Places to actually try: The chimes its right outside the gates of LSU. Pretty decent prices and good food. Brewbachers: burger place that is right off campus as well. IMO best burger in baton rouge. Pastimes: its in downtown baton rouge. Place to go for pizza. Great prices and kick arse pizza plus it has a bar. BARS: My newest first choice too go is THE COVE. Its 21 and over so you dont have retard kids starting shite. Huge selection of beer something like 370. Also plenty of other alcohols and good bartenders. Brightside bar and grill: I like this place based on it having a patio so you can sit outside and drink.

La Carreta is my recommendation for Mexican/Tex Mex. You can't go wrong with Superior either, great fajitas. People seem to love that place, too.

dont eat at walkons. Yes its on campus and close too the stadium but the food is garbage. If you get drug in there i suggest a poboy and some drinks or waffle cheese fries.

It's more of a suburban kind of place than a city. LSU is in it's own isolated spot. Some nice places and some not so nice places like any suburb.

the only Brewbachers in BR that has a decent burger is the Drusilla location. That is because they cook their burgers to order as all the other locations "precook" their burgers and just "warm them" on the grill when you order...

Can you get alcohol easily as an underage student in Baton Rouge?
Posted on 8/19/09 at 7:41 pm to Kind Objectivist
It's so easy, so I have heard. Tigerland bars are shitty, but you can get in and drink if you're 18 unlike a lot of places.

There is more to the city than meets the eye if you venture away from campus a little bit.
Check out downtown or the Perkins Overpass area if you like the bar scene. There are some good restaurants on Government and the Jefferson/Corporate area.
The city has its problems like traffic and poor air quality. It is spread out and full of suburbs and chains, but there are some gems mixed in there, too.
And of course, the campus itself is beautiful and the people are friendly and know how to throw a party.

I never found it hard too get. Then again i had older friends and a fake id.
On gamedays its not very hard to get away with drinking underage. They have started to crack down a little but if you are smart about it they wont catch you.

Try the Corndogs.
I visited Baton Rouge for the LSU/Bama game.
The liquor is cheap, the people are nice, and the campus isn't very pretty at all. (Way too flat, and not nearly enough trees.) The scraggly arse live Oaks with the Palmetto trees just doesn't look good. Place looks kinda like what you would expect on a savannah. Place definitely has some potential down the road, though.
I didn't get a chance to frequent any bars or restaraunts near the

Actually Walk ons has gotten a little better with their food...or is it because I'm drinking every time I eat there? Sammys is money. I used to eat there a lot when I lived in BR. Chimes is consistently good and awesome beer selection.
Freds, Bogeys, Ivars, Duvics, and all the others by perkins overpass are cool bars.

If you want good "higher end country style home" scenery take highland all the way into campus. Beautiful.

another short drive outside of Baton Rouge brings you too the port hudson battle field.
the longest siege in US history. 48 days during the civil war 7,500 confed troops up against 40,000 union troops.

I guess everything looks weird when you've been surrounded by pine trees your whole life redneck. You may be the first person I've ever heard say LSU's campus isn't beautiful.
