That all changed in Fayetteville in the early 90s. You'll still see a random blazer and cocktail dress at a game, but the vibe is just a lot different now. There's more students, but there's also enough of an economy so that people just hang out here and don't leave.

The town here has grown up. The downtown is rocking, and there are different areas that have gentrified and gotten cool at the same time. Clean tech businesses are moving in, etc. The arts scene is great, and only getting better and more sophisticated...

Not just Fayetteville but all of NWA. That said, there is just something about being in Fayetteville that I love.

I don't think it is simply nostalgia either.

I'm having a hard time describing it.

Fayetteville is a great place because of the people. People care about this city and love this city, and so they take care of it and protect it.

Its a mixture of what makes any great city great, but mixed in with a lower-midwestern/upper south Bible-belt mentality of abiding by the Golden Rule.

In short, people are nice here. People are also socially conscious.

Mix that with the scenery of the Ozarks, four distinct seasons, and lots of outdoors activities, and there you have it. Its hard to describe, but not if you really think about it.

I lived in Dallas for 5 years. It was okay, if you don't mind feeling completely disconnected from nature. Thats tough on a boy from the Natural State.

Here, you have a slice of big city fun, but all you have to do is drive over a hill and catch a glimpse of the Ozarks rolling out into infinity to remember how beautiful this planet is.

Which reminds me, I've got shite to do. Its 85 degrees and sunny.
