I'm not sure they were better either, but they played better overall last year. Auburn, UT and Arkansas were all more talented than VU, but didn't prove it on the field for whatever reason.

If history is any indicator, Ole Miss does not respond well to high expectations.
The successful seasons they have had in recent memory came when they were low on the radar.
