he might as well, he lost the kids in the florida program and future florida recruits with his orlando magic antics anyway ..

If this is true, shame on Kentucky & Billy Donovan for working an agreement under the table while Gillispie was still coaching there. frick UK. And if you find this ok Kige, I don't know what to say. There's no way a program who is doing things "legimately" makes it happen this fast. No way in hell.

Don't get it twisted. I genuinely like Kiger. Really. But defending these kinds of antics in a program, I just can't fathom.

It was a shady deal but I can understand a school doing what it feels is necessary. Positive public opinion isn't going to win games for you.
FWIW - Kentucky will be in the same predicament three years from now.

Firing coaches before they completely instill their players and systems isn't going to win games for you either. The least they could do was give Billy G. 3 years. Dude is a coach, a flat out coach.

Gillespie was a goner anyway. If BD says no, I still think the axe falls.

Kentucky is too far gone in stupidity, IMO. Coaches should always be given 3 years. Just because this is "Kentucky Basketball", why should it be different? That would be like if Michigan got rid of Rich Rod after last year. Retarded.

fair point - only time will tell.

Sadly in Kentucky you have to be more than just a coach.

I agree that they dropped the ball on Tubby, but Gillespie was in over his head. He's like the Manager of Best Buy becoming the CEO of Apple. He was TERRIBLE for public relations. Can't even manage a halftime interview without looking like a DICK. Meeks and Patterson HATE him, and may leave early. The guy threw his players under the bus after every loss.
This job was too big for him.

All valid. Time will tell to see where Kentucky goes with this next. However, if I were Billy G., I'd sit on my UK money for a couple years and take a break. The longer he's away, the more people will remember the A&M days and he'll strike another huge payday at a desperate Big 12 school. Time is on Gillispie's side right now.

UF says there is no truth to the story.

Dammit bgator that's like the third thread you've said that in. We all know you're worried.

Just covering my bases.

If he decides to leave, that is fine. He has given us an incredible ride and would be providing a replacement UF has complete faith in for the long haul. I would actually prefer this whole thing just end.
I guess on the plus side if Donovan doesn't leave now, there is a good chance he is at UF for many more years.
Now is when it will get interesting. If Donovan was thinking no all along he can say so publicly, if he waits obviously he is thinking about the job.
