In a previous thread I openly speculated about why this guy was even on the team.

His HS career was good (West Monroe LA) but nothing like an Owen Paino. He hit .337 as a Sr in high school with zero (0) home runs. That's somewhat underwhelming for a center fielder where you expect some power at a bare minimum.

He comes to Ole Miss and immediately starts as a true freshman at DH??? Why?

He hits .243 for the season with 2 HRs.

Begins his sophomore season as our starter in center field. Who did we miss on in the portal that we have to fall back on this guy?

Through the State series he's hitting .208 without a HR.

Since then --- in the month of April -- he has done the following:

16 for 28, one HR
.571 average
.700 OBP
.821 slugging %

He has raised his season average to .308

I haven’t watched any games so my continued theory is nothing more than that…..but it sounds like we’re finally trying to play baseball instead of home run derby’s.
