I don't mean to call them out too harshly. But if we are going to make an Omaha run this year, I think Paino is going to have to be part of the mix.

I let myself get too excited about Paino as a freshman, and he predictably melted under pressure. His defense was so bad, we had to bring in Luke Chen who was decent in the field. But neither of those guys could hit.

So we move Brayden Randall to SS. He has two errors in one inning. So we bench his arse and bring Paino in for game 3. He promptly goes 0 for 4 with three Ks and an error of his own.

I know the season is super young. But we wouldn't have made our 2022 run without Jacob Gonzales. And we won't make a 2026 run unless one of those guys can stop making errors, and start hitting the baseball.

I would keep the fielder over the hitter at SS. SS is such an important defensive position.

So I just pulled up the box score for this afternoon's game.

It's halfway through the 3rd inning. We have made 4 errors.

I guess I am gonna have to dig through the numbers and figure out who made them. But I have some guesses.

One on the pitcher. One on the catcher. One on the 3B. And one on the SS (Randle).

Second edit: 5 errors now through 5
