After appearing in all fourteen games and earning starts in twelve of them in the 2025 season, Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson put the college football world on notice as to why he’d previously been ranked as the nation’s top defensive back in high school.
Today, that impressive redshirt freshman campaign earned him further recognition, as the Football Writers Association of American named Robinson the 2025 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year.
He had a rough start in his first few games but he was the DB to avoid for opposing QBs for the rest of the season. He'll follow Starks and Ringo into the NFL.

I wondered if he had a 75 IQ after the first few games. I've come back for a double portion of crow
He was such a ball hawk by the end of the year - he is going to change multiple games next season

Don’t frick with Ellis Island.
This should be the poster child for Kirby developing players.

If you were ranking the reasons why we lost to Alabama the first time, Ellis Robinson jumping on the pile probably wouldn't crack the top 200.
Why dog out our own players?

I mean, did he not earn it??
"Rookie" mistakes go away because they get called out.
For starters, it was about the 3rd bone headed move of the game for him. And it came in the midst of a really rough stretch, after we'd been hearing "he's a special DB, got to play him or he'll transfer etc." all offseason.
There's also the jump itself - that's not at tough PI call, it's not losing to a better player, it was just a really dumb move.

That jump was a really dumb move for him. Kirby talked to him seriously on the sidelines and a couple of times the next few days. He got beat bad several times in the first 3-4 games against SEC teams but by the Texas game he was playing well. No QB will want to throw his way next season.
