NIL and private equity

NIL is running CFB straight into the arms of private equity. It’s the only way many schools will have to compete. Just imagine how a school like UCLA could be transformed overnight. You are offering kids money AND lifestyle. Some schools and conference (B1G, maybe) have already dabbled. This is a runaway train.

I'm against PE but I can't understand what the ROI would be that would interest these firms.

The Portal is the biggest issue with NIL being a close second. Private Equity will just make it worse. All they care about is profit.
Why do we watch college football/sports?
Traditions
Rivalry
Pageantry
Watching kids develop
Pulling for "your" team. Loyalty.
This is all being torn down by the portal and NIL.
Players are now hired guns with no allegiance. Transfer at will.
How can players understand or care about traditions in one year?
A rivalry game is just another game.
Kids transfer at will so you don't have a "next year"....
Your team today isn't the same team next year.
Football schemes will be dumbed down because players can't learn a new system in months.
Once the players start communicating this is a business relationship to the fans, it will become tough to support the teams as we do today. Wait until you hear a player opting out regular season games because they are transferring.
I hope it doesn't but I believe it will happen.

The portal really is the problem. Give each player one free transfer. Beyond that, they should sit out a year like the old rules.
