I really dont know. Yall haven't hired a complete lemon that sat your team back a decade lately. Ironically enough kiffin was the catalyst that led to our demise. Not that he was a bad coach but the way he left. We also had poor leadership. All in all, the defense needed an overhaul, which he's done. He also needs to do better with clock management and adjusting to the game. I think the way this season ended put him more on notice. Next year winning 8-9 he's probably safe. He can't do that for 2 years in a row though

I was going to say 2 years seems like the magic number on whether or not he'll ever do it.

Happy? No. But we weren’t gonna get rid of him. It was a terrible year to have a coaching search and he is the best we’ve had since Fulmer. I’m guessing two years before we consider a coaching change.

He should get another chance with this next stud QB coming in. Nico ruined this past season

Looks like Phillip Fulmer had it going on back in the day.
The Vols seem like a sleeping giant to me.
One hot-shot coach away from dominating.

I think Heupel has done a good job with what he took over. This year was largely considered a rebuild after what we lost, and we took a major hit when both starting corners opted to not return. We may see another tough year in 2026, but between the Knowles hire and incoming class, I think CJH needs 10 wins in 2027 to stay off the hot seat. 2027/28 is when we will either commit to the Heup or look at making a change.
