Indiana is the only conference champion to win a playoff game in the 12 team format

and 2025 is Indiana's first outright conference championship since 1945
Conference champions hold a playoff record of 1-9 in the first 2 years of the 12 team format.
The SEC, B10, B12, and ACC are so big they each need their own mini 4 team playoff to accurately determine the conference champion. Unless that is somehow imbedded into the national playoff structure, conference championship games will soon die.
Get ready for conference titles to be split 3 or 4 ways. But I guess that will give Ole Miss the chance to hang new "co-champions" banners in their stadium.
