What exactly is a defensive player supposed to do in real time on a play like that. I mean if you have to review it and slow it down to see then why would you eject a player for that. I could see a 15 yard penalty but damn.

I’m going to just go way out on a limb and say not target his head and launch into his head. Head.

I’m not sure you’ve ever played a contact sport before but with two people’s momentum going towards each other while the player with the ball simultaneously going down, he’s going to get hit up top. There’s no stopping that.

I didn’t see it. But I’ll go even further out on a limb and say that officials suck and are inconsistent.

Whatever the case is, the call in issue in this thread was correct.

The problem with calls like these it makes people question even legitimate targeting calls. I understand the need for the rule but frick do these officials need to do a better job at calling them

None of this happened. The receiver caught the ball, turned up field and ran into our defender.

Why? I don’t care. Two things can be true: 20 targeted and the refs missed another targeting call. Again: I don’t care.

I actually thought he held up. He probably could've killed that guy if he wanted to.

He did hold up for sure. I mean there was really nothing else he could do to avoid what they’re calling “targeting” which is why it’s so dumb.
