PORTAL ADVICE:

This was so good I wanted to post it

Sean Tuohy Jr.
@SJTuohy

Portal open! One piece of advice I would give a player having been on all sides of the portal process: don’t mess up your life’s money for a one-time bag.

Yeah, school “X” offered you 50k more than school “Y” did. But, now you transferred to a place that didn’t have your program; you lost credits. You played at 3 places and have no network and no one that has a vested interest in your success after graduating.

Even more so, with all these redshirts. If you have ONE year left to graduate and TWO years left to play: finish your degree. You can always go somewhere your last year and chase the bag or go down a level and play.

Just make sure “life changing money” IS life changing and not just briefly lifestyle changing. Factors like quality of life and cost of living matter.

One last thing on it: if you leveraging the portal to get more $ at your current school and that does NOT work, it’s even less likely the portal is going to be beneficial. Be careful!

Let me post this pre-emptive best wishes to whoever enters the portal.

It is now just part of the business side of the sport. It is reality. Portal season is just another element of football season, as is summer conditioning, etc.

At least, as a certain famous coach has said of NIL, "Now Its Legal" to pay the players cash for their labors. With the year-round hard work by every player involved at this level of the sport, the dollars are earned.

Us schlub fans sitting on the sofa recognize and appreciate the hard work by the teams!

Our TE room will look vastly different next year. And it needs to. I suspect we’ll have a diff TE coach too

Had to look up who was the cousin - Isaiah Autry-Dent.
Seasoned O-linemen can find good landing places. Best wishes to his future success.
(edit) I see his "X" announcement already posted in this thread.

OL Jacob Sexton is heading to portal. Oft injured but hate to lose in state players (he’s from Deer Creek)

Hate losing him but money talks I’m sure.

The former four-star and Tulsa native appeared in every game this season, recording 16 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.

I knew this one was coming. That game where Mateer was struggling (we did win though) Mom posted a rally tweet saying it was time for Michael. He never played and after game the dad posted some negative stuff (but deleted).

We have a good freshman coming in. I also think this means Mateer is returning. We’ll need to find a good backup since its likely the freshman redshirts.

Hawk was a legacy player and I wish him the best. In his limited time this year he did not stand out. But he can move to a lower tier school and get playing time.
