The portal and no consequence transfers has done farrrrr more damage to the game than NIL

It's a combination of the three.

Transfers with no wait time meant there was less incentive to stick around.
NIL now meant it wasn't about playing time but rather about getting paid.

When Jalen Hurts left for Oklahoma, I knew we'd miss him but it was also the best thing for him - no longer behind another QB, plus learning new systems and getting more development.

Now the same scenario can easily happen with a starter who simply got offered more money to play somewhere else. You can't even do that in the NFL, but the moment you try and have these players sign a contract someone WILL sue and the courts have already shown a strong inclination in favoring the players.
