Decentralize power away from the HC position. Problem solved.

The modern head coach functions as CEO, HR Director, and Advancement/Development Director. In our case, Drinkwitz doesn’t even report to our AD.

One way to mitigate the issues we’re seeing is to decentralize that power. Also, put more stipulations on coordinator and staff hiring and contracts (like buyouts, no competes).

Big name coaches will never agree to this but schools with stable administrative culture, who are good at talent acquisition and development, would be wise to require it.
