Alabama leads the conference in total defense for the first time since 2017...

Their 34 total yards allowed against Eastern Illinois (the lowest output allowed in program history since 1962) yesterday afternoon has vaulted them over Oklahoma and Missouri to take the top spot. Not since the heady days of Jeremy Pruitt has the Tide managed to hold the top spot so late into the season. They are also second in the conference behind Oklahoma in scoring defense. Kane Wommack has done a tremendous job correcting the Pete Golding error. I doubt he will be our DC next season but he has laid the foundation for his successor. Hopefully that guy doesn't screw it up.

First thing I do when I look at stats is filter out FCS games
Next thing I do is completely ignore low value stats which is basically anything that start with “total”

True...at the end of the day the only stat the matters is the final score. However, for those of us who aren't miserable, stat lines like these are interesting.
