I may have reasoned myself into a James Franklin hire for LSU. And Orgeron is the reason

We hired Orgeron on the basis that he didn't care about the money, he cared about proving everyone else wrong about his abilities and ceiling (USC).
I think he may have been the lowest paid coach in the SEC until he won the NC, and then he was maybe in the top five.
His buyout was 17 million.
His entire contract was incentive based, just like Miles and Saban ( granted, we made Saban the highest paid coach when he was hired to get him here. $1 million a year. Media blasted that saying it was absurd to pay a coach that much) But his contract was loaded with incentives as well that could more than double his salary.
Hell, if Saban wasn't in the same division as Miles, Miles would have gained multi generational wealth from his incentives.
But he didn't, because he didn't fulfill the conditions.
And then comes Woodward, who gives a guaranteed contract, regardless of results. The second time btw because he apparently didn't learn his lesson from the Jimbo fiasco. And the result is we fired our first coach since the last century for not winning a NC.
Which brings me to Franklin. He doesn't need the money, but like Orgeron, he needs to prove everyone else wrong about his abilities and ceiling.
LSU is the type of place for that. I mean...we took Ole Miss' ( possibly the SEC's) worst coach of all time and won a NC with him.
Penn State has always been known for collapsing on the big stage, so maybe Franklin isn't completely to blame.
Given the chance, he may be able to pull an Orgeron at LSU. We are capable of doing that for a coach, as long as he has the fire

The man had back to back 9-4 seasons at Vandy. He hit the 10 year mark at PSU. It was time to move on. LSU could do a lot worse but I don’t see them going this route.

Nobody saw us going the Orgeron route.
But I championed Ed Orgeron for head coach.
He proved his worth at a chance by saving not one season, but two seasons as interim.
I was ridiculed on here by fans of every team, especially LSU.
I was right.
I'm not fully supporting a Franklin hire yet...but I'm definitely open to it after giving it some serious consideration.
Low pay, high reward. Or no reward, but no high financial risk.
Let's give chance to another man with a chip on his shoulder.

Can you list the coaches on the market with a better resume and track record?
Are there 10 P4 schools seriously thinking they can land the next Saban.
There are not enough proven coaches to go around. Franklin is a safe bet as it gets.
