Woodward getting kick backs from coaching agents? Or just overly driven/enthusiastic to spend other people's money?

I want to note that, while some folks have tried to absolve Woodward of the blame for Jimbo's buyout, the liquidated damages provision that ended up requiring A&M to pay Jimbo $77 million was in the original contract negotiated by Woodward in 2018. Woodward agreed that if A&M ever terminated Jimbo, then A&M would have to pay Jimbo his full compensation due over the course of the contract, with no mitigation requirement (seek other employment).

Now, of course, I would hope that some lawyer who drew this up told Woodward that was a bad idea, but having put it in the original deal, there was no prospect that Bjork could get that provision changed to protect A&M when he gave Jimbo a raise and extension in order to keep Woodward from luring him to LSU after Scott went back home.

The difference is:

If you win the lottery, you get rich but your family and friends who don't get any money from you will hate you.

You get hired by Woodward, you get rich but every LSU fan on the face of the earth is going to hate you sooner or later.
