Don't recall ever a season where both in-state rivalry games could determine postseason championship hopes.

It's why I am laughing at schools spending a fortune on buyouts.... The sport is in flux and transitioning to a new version of the game, why not see which coaches rise to the top instead of overpaying guys that understand what the game was......

I am intrigued as hell by this week's Vandy @ Texas game, especially with arch potentially being out.
I have no clue what texas's problem is and why they are so much crappier than anyone would've thought. If they get by that one, considering they have AU and UK at home next, you're right you could have a 1-loss vandy heading into the final week of play against UT looking to secure a playoff bid. Insane.

I thought the OT catch was obvious cheating by the refs. It was ruled incomplete and caught 3-4 feet oobs, looking at his feet and when the catch was completed, I just don't see how you overturn it.

Agreed and it's actually one thing I'm really interested in seeing as the season continues.
Lea & Key have both struck gold, but are they really that good at coaching or are they riding a super senior QB??

Tech isn't as good on defense this year, apparently. And they also don't have Eric Singleton this year. And they also won't sneak up on us this year. If anything we'll have the emotional edge. frick Tech.

I mentioned it in another thread, but what abslutely killed us last year was the same thing AU did to us repeatedly in 2023 which is just pulling a lineman or H-Back as a lead blocker for the QB run. So remarkably simple but we couldn't stop it. Thorne sucks so we eventaully put a stop to that but it wasn't until like OT #7 against tech we finally clamped down on them.
I HAVE to think that with a full year of prep they aren't going to have that success again.

I like the fact that we're playing them in the Benz. Should give Dawgs the edge. Tech surprised me in '23 with number of fans and exuberance. They should have a big undefeated target on their backs this year.

Looking at Vanderbilt's stats, they might revert to their losing ways in the back end of the season. They're winning so far, not knocking that, but they've been outgained in total yards by 3 of their 4 SEC opponents. They're averaging 330 ypg against SEC teams, and giving up 380 ypg. It's hard to win consistently throughout a season with that kind of deficit. An experienced qb who's not afraid to run is a big positive, but I don't think he'll have as much success running against Texas, Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee. Wouldn't be surprised if they lose 3 of those games.

It would be to our advantage the they win out before our game. Kirby is golden in top five matchups against anyone not named Alabama.
