Has Mike Elko made Aggie football fun again after only 1.5 seasons?

I think he has at least for me, last year, we were hoping for 5–7 or six and six at the best possible scenario, all new coaches all new system massive player exodus lots of kids coming in from the portal

And what did we get? Yes, we came off the rails at the very end, but we had a season filled with Hope and excitement, I swear I wasn’t gonna get sucked back in after Jimbo. And even I started paying attention.

And now here we are 1.5 years away from the start of a complete program rebuild, and whether we win or lose, we are actually going into big games with the belief that we could walk away with a victory if things go right

Being able to believe you have a shot to win a night game in Louisiana, being ranked in the top five for more than a couple weeks, yeah, football has become fun again, it’s amazing how fast this has happened

Yes. I was fairly excited about the hire, but even I didn’t dream he’d have us in the top ten at some point in each of his first two seasons.

If he beats LSU this year, I’ll take his advice and put BAS to rest.

The Miami loss 2 years ago broke something. Sucked all the fun out of things. Coming off our worst season in recent memory and dropping a very winnable road game was a tough pill to swallow.

Yes, Elko has fixed it and it's fun again.

Hope we hang 60 on the tigahs.

I’m going to be Debbie downer here and say while this season has been great, we’re also 4 points away from being a middling team. It’s way too early to be heaping so much praise on Elko. All signs are good at this point and winning the close games rather than losing them (ala Jimbo) is obviously way better, but let’s pump the brakes on the program change talk. Doing some things we haven’t done in forever like beat LSU in BR or beat Texas at all would go a long ways towards proving we’ve actually changed course.

Arkansas and Florida. We’re both not in doubt.

Yes, Notre Dame was scary and we were lucky to walk away with that one

youre not alone. at 1.5 seasons in, sumlin revolutionized the offense here. Jimbo, brought back defense and physicality that hadnt been seen in 2 decades. Sustaining success has always been the issue here. TBD

First AP Top 3 in 30 years
First 7-0 start in over 30 years
First ranked road win in over 10 years
First OOC road win vs a P5 in over 20 years
First OOC road win vs a Top 10 team in 45 years
First SEC road win after 9 straight losses

With one more conference win, it will be the first time we've had consecutive winning conference records in 25 years

Yeah I gasped reading that stat. An impressive run of underachieving across 4 different staffs.

We actually did an incredible job of threading the needle between 13 consecutive bowls and yet never putting back-to-back good seasons together.

If we beat the Tigers on Saturday, Elko will have gotten us to 5-0 starts in SEC play both seasons he’s been here. That says something IMO.

I hadn’t even thought of that either, here’s hoping to a great game on Saturday

And let’s face it I haven’t seen our little brother this anxious and nervous since Jimbo had his one loss season

They absolutely cannot handle the fact that not only are they getting laughed at which they’ve grown accustomed to over the last 15 years, but that there is literally nothing to laugh at us over and that’s eating them up, which is making for great fun
