that our defense is suddenly the Wrecking Crew reborn.

Before I begin, let me preface this by saying that I am not a ColoradoAg-esque Debbie downer. Nor am I trying the old reverse psychology jinx thing.

I have been deeply satisfied with the way A&M’s defense has played over the course of the last three games. 2/34 on 3rd downs allowed is absolutely incredible. However, we have to admit that Auburn, State, and Florida do not have the best offenses. I find it very hard to believe that we flipped a switch after giving up 40 points to an actually good offense (ND) to becoming a defensive juggernaut, especially since Auburn had WRs open all over the place and Sackson Arnold just couldn’t get them the ball.

In short, I’m happy with how things have gone but very, very doubtful that we’ll be able to have anywhere near that kind of success in our first road game of the SEC season against Bobby P., or any other competent offense. I would be thrilled to be wrong, but for now, I feel like we’re fool’s gold defensively.

Thoughts?

P.S. Downvote and troll away if you must, but let’s see if we can get a Serious Football Discussion™ going.

I’m not saying we have an elite defense like Utrans fans keep claiming they have, but points allowed vs points scored says our boys are pretty darn salty

I’m just concerned that if we play a team that has both offense and defense, like Missouri, we’ll be in deep trouble. I expect to lose to LSU next week just because it’s Death Valley at night, but our defense should put up impressive numbers against that offense. That’s the thing, though: we’ve been impressive against subpar opposition.

my thought is you created your own straw man so you could knock him over.

Maybe so you could appear "humble" or "enlightened".

Whatever your motivation, I've seen NO ONE, ANYWHERE, claiming our Wrecking Crew is reborn.

Enjoy the ride (and be quiet).

Don’t overlook Arkansas either

@Ole Miss by 6 points (fumbled on potential game winning drive)
@Memphis by 1 point (fumbled on potential game winning drive)
@Tennessee by 3 points

Those teams have a combined 17-1 record this year.

There was one knucklehead last week saying it, but he was a Utrans fan

My thought is that you’re wrong, and my comment about the Wrecking Crew was hyperbole. Don’t be so literal; go retake Analyzing & Interpreting Literature, why don’t you?

According to NCAA stats the draggies have the #5 total defense in the SEC.

So your D is more like the Trans Wrecking Crew.

Nothing against A&M but you could argue they’ve faced 3 of the weakest offenses in the SEC.

Not in play vs power 4 teams

And your team is in the bottom half on defense if you look

Your stats against sisters of the poor don’t matter

The defense gave up 40 to a one dimensional Notre Dame. But a W is a W. Does the October abyss begin now?

I’m sure there are going to be some real dogfights coming up. Especially being on the road, so the defense won’t have the 12th man helping out with noise, etc.

I wouldn’t call that real trouble, it’s to be expected. So it shouldn’t be alarming.

Just hold A&M to the same standard as the rest of the league.
