Many, myself included, said “next man up, it will be fine” when they got injured. The last two weeks have shown how important those two guys really are for Alabama and how much they were missed early in the season.

Transfer portal changes depth quality.
Even at Alabama.
The gap between 1 and 2 is now what it was between 1 and 3 in the 1990s. So when injuries happen the next man up is more like the guy who used to either red shirt or just have spot duty until ready for a bigger load.
Even at Alabama.

He wasn’t wrong. And maybe it needed to be said a few times.
Everyone loved the idea of NIL and the transfer portal. Until we got NIL and the transfer portal.

They are two SEC level players with several years experience.
On top of that, Jam Miller sets up his blocks better, is better in pass protection, and catches the ball better than any combination of the backs behind him. Jam just lacks elite breakaway speed, otherwise has all the tools. He’s a key in the offense, Grubb loves the guy.
