Did Buster Faulkner crack Georgia’s defense, and are other teams now following suit?

I think so. Kirby needs to hire an NFL defensive guru to go through it for him and tell him what changes need to be made in alignment and assignment.

You are the only person in these comments not discussing Georgia football and instead discussing, well, yourself.

I don’t think anyone has really “cracked” Kirby’s defense.

His defense, even at bama, was always suspect in the secondary if there wasn’t a great pass rush. Just like mobile quarterbacks have always given him fits.

Our defensive line hasn’t been up to snuff for the past two years.

Stick to discussing football and stop it with the bizarre middle school melodrama. You have been warned! (my wannabe mod voice)

There are people that look over your film and advise to weaknesses and obvious things to an outsider... Money well spent as there is no reason tech should have been even remotely close.

no, this is silly.
They scored 23 against us in 2023 which is a totally "normal" amount of points to give up. Last year they did great against us but it was largely due to 1) a tough mobile QB that constantly had lead blocking and misdirection beofre the snap to get our guys out of the way, and 2) a legit top tier really good WR

After 2022 many teams have done quite well against our defense in a number of different ways. to insinuate that faulkner is some kind of big brain guru that has unlocked the hidden secret to success against our defense is ridiculous.

Faulkner is considered a savant about the offense.

Not really disputed from other coaches

Whoever the OC is at Georgia for the foreseeable future will catch shite and be criticized because he ain't no Monken, even though Monken had the top scoring offense in the NFL last year and interviewed for heading coaching jobs. There's a realistic chance that we might all die of old age before Georgia has another offensive coordinator as good as Monken.

Doesn't mean that you shouldn't hold the current OC to a high standard, but it does mean that you should still be able to find some joy in Georgia football and not be discontent with Georgia football until the day that we magically hire another OC as good as Monken.

Oh c'mon. A savant? If he was so savant-like why is he just piddling around at a second tier school like tech? Let's check where tech finished in the rankings under his direction

2023
PPG- 43rd
YPG- 34th

2024
PPG- 61
YPG- 35th

2025 so far
PPG- 38
YPG- 18

Keep in mind most of this is against craptastic ACC competition. Is all that good..."for tech"..? Sure I suppose. But I wouldn't call all of the above savant-like or elite in any way. Points are all that really matter for an offense and he has yet to finish better than 38th nationally.

GT is 5-0 and trending up the last 2 years.

GA is 3-1 and has been trending down since 2 years ago.

Also, didn't Monken dip down to coach at GA from being an OC and HC before going back to the NFL?

Most coaches bounce around

Playing in the weak arse ACC and against the following teams in total defense:

Colorado- 84th
GW-Unranked
Clemson-54th
Temple -104th
Wake Forest- 64th

Because the only way for us to go was down.

Look, I like Faulkner, I'd take him over Bobo in a heartbeat, you said he's a savant, like he's one of the best OC's ever and all the coaches know that. He was an average OC in his previous stops until he got to work with Haynes King. Lets see what else he can do before we proclaim him an elite OC.

Yeah, but the "savant" ones bounce around at places like Bama, UGA, OSU, Oregon. Not Central Arkansas, MTSU, Arkansas State, and Southern Miss

Our red zone EPA(expected points added) was -0.146. That’s saying that our offense went effectively backwards inside the red zone against Bama. And our red zone YPP(yards per play) was 2.2, if that’s not on the OC then who is it on? We also have a fairly mobile qb that should help our scoring inside the 20.
